Nourishing Your Body and Soul: Top 10 Tips for Mindful Eating & Nutrition
Introduction:
Did you know that the average person spends about five years of their life eating? That's a lot of time to make mindful eating and nutrition choices when it comes to nourishing our bodies and souls. So grab a healthy snack and join me on a journey towards holistic wellness through mindful eating and nutrition.
As I sit down to write this blog post, I am filled with a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to share with you my personal journey towards mindful eating and nutrition. In a world filled with fast food and fad diets, it can be challenging to prioritize our health and well-being. But through compassion for ourselves and others, we can embark on a journey towards nourishing our bodies and souls.
Top 10 Tips and Tricks that have truly made a difference in my own life, and can help you on your path to mindful eating and nutrition:
1. Start your day with a glass of warm lemon water to aid digestion and boost your metabolism. Instead of coffee I started drinking Celsius. Coffee hurts my stomach. Celsius energy drinks are free of nasty chemicals and are sugar free. Careful they pack a punch at 200mg caffeine, but are loaded with essential vitamins.
2. Incorporate more plant-based meals into your diet for a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. I like to prep all my veggies in sustainable glass Tupperware. That way I always have a quick option to eat raw plant based foods. My favorites are beets, carrots, broccoli, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes.
3. Practice mindful eating by savoring each bite and listening to your body's hunger cues. Stop eating when your stomach feels full! It’s really hard to do at first but just keep practicing this and it’ll become a habit.
4. Experiment with new herbs and spices to add flavor to your meals without relying on salt and sugar. Once you get an idea of how spices combine with each other, it’s simple!
5. Keep healthy snacks like nuts, fruits, and veggies on hand to curb cravings and prevent mindless eating. This really works if you really work it.
6. Plan and prep your meals ahead of time to avoid reaching for unhealthy options when you're short on time. This is essential for people who work a lot and find themselves eating too much fast food.
7. Stay hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of water and herbal teas. Stay away from unnecessary added sugar drinks, they are pointless. I know we’ve all heard this over and over… but it’ll show results when applied with everything else! Just do what feels right. If your pee is too dark in color, drink more water.
8. Limit your intake of processed foods and focus on whole, nutrient-dense ingredients. There are countless chemicals in processed foods that interact with our body in ways we don’t understand. These foods will change your emotional wellbeing. Stay away from processed foods!
9. Treat yourself occasionally to your favorite indulgences without guilt, practicing moderation and balance. I like having dark chocolate or chocolate peanut bars. It’s too hard for me to go eat what I really want and come back to the new habit. Focus on sweets that are nutritious and sweet.
10. Seek support from a nutritionist or health coach to create a personalized plan that works for you and your goals. This really helps when my schedule is too full. I get overwhelmed and need someone to remind me to stay on track with detailed plans.
Fun Fact:
Did you know that dark chocolate is not only delicious but also rich in antioxidants? So go ahead, indulge in a square or two guilt-free! And remember, laughter is also good for the soul, so don't forget to enjoy a good chuckle every now and then.
Conclusion:
As we wrap up our journey together, I encourage you to embrace the power of mindful eating and nutrition as a form of self-care and self-love. By nourishing our bodies with wholesome foods and approaching our meals with intention and gratitude, we can truly transform our lives from the inside out.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure towards holistic wellness. Enjoy mindful eating and nutrition! Here's to a healthier, happier you!
